Imagine if you could be Prime Minister?

Our pupils at Slindon College were invited to tell us! This followed a special assembly on the UK system, and the various political parties led by Ms Coffey (Assistant Head) & Mrs Nash (Head of English).

Next, the pupils selected candidates that represented the four College Houses, and together they made posters and leaflets detailing the ideas they discussed. These representatives were invited to write a speech for the entire College to hear and challenge. Candidates were asked to create visual aids, and present their policies. An intense voting system followed, that mirrors the system the pupils will follow when eligible to vote one day themselves.

Following tough competition, and with only 5 votes between the top two candidates, our pupils have chosen Matthew G (Year 9) as Prime Minister with the 'Equity Party!'

Matthew was recently elected on to West Sussex Youth Cabinet for 2024 - 2026, following a successful manifesto. He takes part in regular monthly meetings for his 2 year term of office.

Well done to all who took part in our fun activity! And who knows, maybe we have some real politicians in our line-up!
