Occupational Therapy week at Slindon College
Slindon College offers a wide range of resources pertaining to Occupational Therapy. These are used by pupils of all ages throughout the College and include our OT swing which is used in 1:1 sessions.
Occupational Therapy Week at Slindon College offered current parents the chance to come and find out more about what we offer to our pupils from our paediatric trained OTs. The College's OT room was also open during lunchtimes in the week for staff to drop in to find out more. The theme of Occupational Therapy week this year centred on the power of Occupational Therapy and its role in health and social care now and into the future.
OT is a therapy to improve a pupils motor skills, balance, and coordination. OT helps pupils improve the motor skills involved in everyday tasks, such as writing. These skills include fine and gross motor skills and motor planning. Therapists also work on coordination, balance, and self-regulation skills. Occupational therapy is a science degree-based, health and social care profession, regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council.
